Alaska Fall Adventure: Spend 5 Days Sailing Southeast Alaska and 4 Days Exploring the Golden Cirlcle Route of the Yukon Territory

“Lights, Sights, and Delicious Bites!”

We’re so excited to offer a new epic Alaks sailing and Yukon overland adventure this Fall!

In our opinion the Lynn Canal is the prettiest place to sail on earth, and September is one of the best times of year to see it. Fall happens early in Southeast Alaska and the YUKON. the trees will already be changing, but the animals (Bears, Whales) are still out and making their final effort to fatten up for a long winter!

And of course, September is one of the best times of year to see the Northern Lights in Southeast Alaska and the Yukon Territory…it’s finally dark enough at night, and the gloomy clouds of winter have not yet filled in!

Come Join us for a magical few days of Sailing, Adventure, and relaxing aboard Hopscotch, followed by an incredible 3 night road trip through the Golden Cirlce in the Yukon Terrirtory.

Day 1- Saturday

Arrive in Skagway. Skagway is one of the most charming and remote towns you can visit. You’ll likely be a bit tired from your travel day. Whether you arrive by sea (ferry from Juneau) or air (flight from Juneau), or train (bus and train from Whitehorse), you’ll be ready to relax! Come check-in to Hopscotch and get settled. You’ll have all afternoon/evening to relax. Tonight, dinner will be on your own in town. There are lots of fantastic places to grab food and beverages in Skagway!

DAY 2- Sunday

Wake up refreshed and ready to go on an epic Skagway adventure. You’ll have talked with Captain Brendan the night before about what might suit you and your group. Skagway has an incredible selection of activities. Everything from self guided hikes, to helicopter tours, train rides. When you return from your excursion we will depart in the late afternoon and head 15 miles south to our first anchorage, Taiyasanka Harbor…a stunning protected bay! Today, breakfast and lunch are “on your own” in town. Dinner will be served aboard Hopscotch.

DAY 3- Monday

We continue south in the Lynn canal to our next stop near Sullivan Island where we will anchor nearby for the night. Whales (Humpbacks, Orcas) and Sealions will be some of the wildlife we hope to encounter today on the water. This is a stunning anchorage with a salmon stream nearby that we hope to see Coastal Brown Bears fishing in!

DAY 4- Tuesday

Today we sail farther South! We usually have amazing wind and great views as we cruise past islands and rocky shores! We will anchor tonight in one of several bays perfect for paddling and beach strolling. Today is your day to take in all that Wild Alaska has to offer!

DAY 5 - Wednesday

Our journey continues back North as we wind through the islands and back into the main channel. Here the views get expansive as we have the Chilkat mountains to the west and coast range to the East. Tonight’s stop will be in Haines , Alaska at the marina! We will have our final dinner aboard Hopscotch, but have plenty of time to explore the town of Haines!

DAY 6 - Thursday

Today your Overland Adventure begins! In the morning you’ll have breakfast aboard, before disembarking and meeting the SUV. You’ll have time to go to the store for any “road” snacks you might need before you begin the Golden Circle! You’ll then head North out of Haines towards the Alaska/BC/Yukon Border. The Haines Pass is absolutely incredible, and there will be plenty of photo stops along the way! Late afternoon you will arrive at your accomodation in the town of Haines Junction, Yukon. You’ll have plenty of time to explore or take an excursion (flight seeing, hiking, fishing, etc).

DAY 7 -Friday

Today we leave Haines Junction after an amazing breakfast at the famous Haine Junction Bakery! Once we are fed and fueled, we will head east on the ALCAN (Alaska Canada) Highway. Keep your eyes peeled for moose and bear. We will take a quick snack detour at stunning and remote Kusawa Lake before continuing on to Eclipse Nordic Hotsprings. The Hotsprings are an incredible and relaxing experience that you will find amazing! We will spend a couple of hours here before departing for Whitehorse. Whitehorse has many awesome places to eat and drink! We will arrive just before dinner and get checked in at our accommodations.

DAY 8 -Saturday

We leave Whitehorse after a great breakfast and head south on the Klondike Highway. We have lots to see and do today! We will head towards Carcross, checking out the smallest desert in the world along the way, and emerald Lake! Tonight we will be staying at the boutique Boreale’ Ranch. This is Yukon at it’s finest! Exquisite cuisine, incredible location, and the best place to watch for Northern lights from the Hot tub!

DAY 9 -Sunday

After breakfast we depart for Skagway! Today’s drive isn’t that far, but it takes a few hours because it is so stunning! The South Klondike Highway is one of the most spectacular roadways on earth, and we will be sure to take it all in! We arrive in Skagway in the afternoon and get you checked in to your hotel for your final night of your Alaska/Yukon Advenutre

A few notes about Alaska

Southeast Alaska is one of the last best places. It is wild, and empty and rugged. You’ll be traveling aboard Hopscotch into some of the most beautiful and remote places in North America. Our trips in general we will be traveling (Sailing or motoring) for between 6 and 8 hours each day through some of the most beautiful wilderness anywhere. But keep in mind that these can be “long days” on the water. With the long daylight hours there is still plenty of time for exploring anchorages by kayak, sup, and foot. It’s important to note that when on shore, you’ll be accompanied by Brendan. The wilderness is very real in Alaska, and hikes/walks/beach strolls all require us to be very Bear Aware!

Once you step on board you'll have everything you need, and then some! Our charters are "All inclusive"...food, beverages (non alcoholic) gear, even some really good jokes from the Captain!

In the charter industry, a 15-20% Crew Gratuity is customary for excellent service. If service is less than excellent we ask that you speak with us (it hasn’t happened yet!).
